Koryu Shoushoukai Iemoto - The head of the KORYU IKEBANA School "SHOUSHOUKAI"

1930 Born in Tsubata town in Ishikawa Prefecture

1948 Joined KORYU IKEBANA School "SEIKAKAYUKAI"

1952 Became an IKEBANA Master and received a licence to teach KORYU IKEBANA from SEIKAKAYUKAI School

1952-1994 Rishou taught hundreds of students and became famous for creating her own style of KORYU IKEBANA.

1994 Founded KORYU IKEBANA School "SHOUSHOUKAI" and has been its IEMOTO (Head) ever since.

MAIN WORKS & EXHIBITIONS

1983 Presented KORYU IKEBANA work to Emperor Showa when he honoured the Tree-Planting Ceremony in Tubata-Machi with his presence.

1996 Shoushoukai's Inaugural Exhibition

2001 Commemorative Exhibition celebrating Rishou's 70th Birthday & her 50th Anniversary of being a KORYU IKEBANA teacher

2010 Rishou's 80th Birthday Commemorative Exhibition co-sponsored by Hokkoku Newspaper Co.

2012 Rishou Sugimoto Exhibition co-sponsored by Hokkoku Newspaper Co.

2013 At the National Agriculture Bearer Summit, held in Kanazawa with His Imperial Highness, the Crown Prince of Japan, in attendance, Rishou exhibited a large KORYU IKEBANA work on a plinth (5m x 2m), using the Ishikawa-bred Freesia called "Airy Flora". Unusually, Rishou's name was clearly visible on the title sign next to the work.
